Irene Read's Big 9-0!!

On Friday the 5th November 2010 Irene Read celebrated her 90th Birthday with over
100 friends and family.

Irene has been a keen supporter of the Trade Chairities for over 40 years.  She is still an active member of The East Midlands Fund Raising Committee.

She is pictured here (second left) with some of her fellow members.

We hope you enjoyed your party and continue to support the Charity for many years to come.

Well done Irene!

London & Home Counties Birthday Bash!

On Wednesday 3rd November I travelled to London to Doggett's Coat and Badge, which was the venue for the London and Home Counties Big Birthday Bash.  Here I am pictured with Marge, June and Debbie who all organised the event with a little help from Martin!

We had a great time.  The food was excellent and the Photo Gallery was a real blast from the past!

Thank you Ladies for making my mum and I feel so welcome.  When is the next do??

Mansfield Auxiliary 84th Banquet - 02.11.10

Well here I am with my fellow members and Chairman of Mansfield, Sutton and District Ladies Licensed Trade Auxiliary.

On Tuesday 2nd November 2010 we held our 84th Annual Dinner Dance at the Masonic Hall, Mansfield.  Unfortunately our President for the Evening, Mr Rex Boaler of R B Wholesale Ltd, could not attend as he had been in a car accident earlier in the day.  Thankfully he is only shake up, not seriously injured (where would we get raffle prizes from if anything were to happen to him?)!

Seriously these landladies, like countless Auxiliaries and Federations up and down the country, work tirelessly to raise money for our Charity.  They clean, cook, serve, smile and still have time to sell a few raffle tickets as well!

A great night was had by all and thank you to all our guests who gave money so generously.

On this night I received 2 cheques for the LTC.  The first for £500.00 from Mary James, Mansfield Auxiliary Chairman and the second also for £500.00 from 'Bubbly' Bob Reeves, Chairman of Nottingham and District LVA.  I can assure you all that every penny of this hard earned money will go to our beneficiaries.

CONFERENCE 2010 - THE BEST YET!!!

Hiya

This year's Conference at Portsmouth and Southsea was the best yet!!  Thanks to everyone who took part in the Halloween Night Regions Entertainment Show.  I know what a lot of time and effort was put into your performances and it was worth it.  The show was great!

The Fancy Dress Competition was won by Kath Duffy and John Andrews. It was good to see so many of you taking part and enjoying yourselves.

The Court gave everyone a thorough review of what the charity has been doing in the last 12 months; from helping those in the trade facing a crisis right through to the progress of our schools, including our special school for children with Autism and Aspergers'.  Take a regular look at our websites (http://www.licensedtradecharity.org.uk/ and http://www.supportandcare.org.uk/ and don't forget to tell your friends.

Thank you to everyone who presented me with a donation at the meeting, I know how hard it is to raise this money and I really do appreciate all your hard work.

Banquet night was a great success - the food was good and I really enjoyed the band.  For the second year running they kept the dance floor full from beginning to end.

Special thanks to my friends from the East Midlands Federation and Mansfield Auxiliary who came to Conference to support me and my family.  It was lovely to have you with me.

My thanks must go to Angela and Gill back in the office for all their hardwork behind the scenes.  The Fundraising and Conference Committee hope you enjoyed this year and look forward to reading your comment forms.

With your help and support we can go from strength to strength.
